Day 2: Arusha to Lake Manyara national park/Tarangire National Park

We make the most of the day by starting at 8:00 and drive through the Maasai steppe, and into the Great Rift Valley to Lake Manyara National Park.

You will go for a local lunch before you proceed later in the afternoon to the park for a sunset game drive. This splendid national park is known for its rich wildlife concentration of elephants, giraffes, impalas, gazelles, zebras and many others in the dense evergreen forests of this park. Tree climbing lions are also a major attraction which can be seen resting on the branches of acacia trees. The lake is known for aquatic birds like flamingos, pelicans, little grebes, Egyptian goose which are a pleasure to the eye. At the end of this day you drive in Karatu town to the lodge for an evening meal and some rest.

After breakfast, we pick our lunch boxes and make the most of the day by starting at 6:30 and take off to the world famous Serengeti National Park. We will be stopping at the Olduvai Gorge which is a major paleoanthropological site where Dr. Louise along with his wife, Mary Leakey, made some significant discovering about human evolution. The discovery of human fossils, the Australopithecus Boiseim led scientists to believe that Africa is the cradle of mankind. Serengeti plains are home to a variety of large and small animals with numbers of birds species. At the end of this day we drive to the lodge/tented camp for dinner and overnight.

Waking up in the Serengeti is something spectacular. After breakfast, we start a day with the morning section of our game-drive in Serengeti National Park, marveling at the stunning scenery, every changing light and always entertaining wildlife, all explained to you by your expert driver-guide.

We go for a morning game drive then return to the lodge/tented camp to relax and for lunch break at your lodge/tented camp. Take a sunset game drive to close off the day. Alternatively if you’re accommodated outside of the park, you can take a short walking safari.

Today after breakfast, we go to the world’s largest caldera that harbors the greatest concentration of animals in a confinement of its 600 meter deep walls. Here you’ll find many of the reasons you chose to come on honeymoon safari: elephant, lion, leopard, hyena, jackal, wallowing hippo, waterbuck, baboons….even the rare black rhino finds shelter here. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA), measuring 8,300 square kilometers, is also the only place on earth where mankind and wild animals co-exist in harmony. The NCA became a Man and Biosphere Reserve in 1971. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1979.

Once at the Crater we will do a wonderful game drive with packed lunch boxes and served at the hippo pool picnic site. This is the only place that you are almost certain of spotting the Big Five in one place on one day. Other animals include hyenas, silver backed jackals, elands, hartebeests, wildebeests, gazelles, impalas as well as rare ungulates like the long necked ; gerenuks. Later in the afternoon we ascend up the Crater walls to Karatu town for dinner and rest needed at the lodge.

After a late breakfast, we hit the road to Arusha for our flight to Zanzibar. On your arrival, you will be welcomed with our driver who will escort you to the beach hotel.

You will spend the next five days at the beach choosing between the numerous water sports on offer at the resort and relaxing. The comfort and hotel will be advised by Tai-Adventures and Safaris based on your budget.

After breakfast at the beach resort Zanzibar and depending on your departure schedule we transfer you to the Airport for your next flight back home. This is end of our 12 days Honeymoon classic safari + Zanzibar.
